You see, the guilty silence in this issue is not because people are for and against independence for Catalonia, not because of for and against Catalonian self-determination. These are arguable cases. What is not an arguable case is to stand idly by and say nothing when violence is perpetrated against a civilian population. That is the guilty silence of the European Union and of the UK government. And they shall be forever condemned that they walked by on the other side of the road where something in Western Europe happened that was totally and completely unacceptable.
